Havana

Havana, the second track from the new EP – Square One was written in one long night at the international airport of Caracas waiting for the flight back to Madrid, on the way back from a trip to Cuba in the winter of 2016.

It had been a crazy journey along which I met many people and listened to many stories from worlds I did not even know that exist. In a way the place gave me exactly the feelings that I expected.

A hopeless perception of isolation, a world that is enough to itself, a world that lives out of its glorious past, its myths and believes.

The slow, almost lethargic vibe of the city should not mislead, a rather vibrant energy pervades the streets, the squares and the eyes of the people. It is all very clear when the dark comes and the music fills up the darkness, revealing the real nature of Havana: colours, melodies, dances.

With this song I wanted to capture all this and to send a message not only to you, but to me too:

and everyday i smile cause we just got one life

and we don t get to live it twice, we don t get to live it twice

Sometimes we get carried away in thinking that we need more, while happiness often lies in simple things.

Enjoy!

Sunrise again over the city of Havana

on the run again another day to discover

the cars drive down the street without rushing

honking to a local beauty on the pavement

they say “hola, como estas” they say “hola donde vas”

rum and coke and cigarettes, little sleep and little rest

lazily dragging myself down the road to the west

30 degrees and the breeze caressing my face like a kiss

from the caribbean sea remember me to be free

remembering me to be free

and everyday i smile

cause we just got one life

and we don t get to live it twice

we don t get to live it twice

Revolucion I read on the walls of Havana

that’s how i feel, inside of me, inside my soul

Revolution, is a motion of this planet of my mind

I find myself once again in a little random club

where music is filling the air

with nostalgic sweet harmonies

every instrument plays like there is no begin and no end

to this caribbean dream remembering me to be free

remembering me to be free

and everyday i smile

cause we just got one life

and we don t get to live it twice

we don t get to live it twice

Where have you gone

This song was written a while ago. I was back home in Italy and it was a warm night of September. It represents an imaginary dialogue with the young self of years ago: where that dreamy boy has gone ?

Life can harden you up with its difficulties and challenges so we often forget how to look at the sky with the amazed eyes of a kid.

There is something about you you might not wanna lose
It’s your way to see the beauty in a rainy day too

We should always keep alive the little kid in us, he would make us see the world with a different perspective, more joyous and playful.

The song itself was recorded a few times in different ways and arrangements, we could not find the right way to express its mood. So when we finally tried this, me and our producer Max Ciccarelli looked at each other and we said: “That’s it” !!

Enjoy!

Where have you gone, my friend

And what have you done over all these years

Where have you been? have you seen something great,

or have you been counting the stars above you?

Tell me the truth, did you expect to find me here

Talking to you and telling you I am for real

I am here to stay and walk you through the hallways in your mind

So dark and cold at times

There is something about you you might not wanna lose

It’s your way to see the beauty in a rainy day too

And don’t forget to take this song with you

and then sing it out loud when you are feeling blue

Tell me everytime you do, you’ll find me everywhere you look

It’s easy to see in your eyes

You looked for too long for signs

And then you have lost your faith in this world

Out of your mind and torn

Remember me running wild and free

Sharing my smile and my crazy dreams

Nothing is lost, I’ll walk you through the hallways in your mind

So dark and cold at times

There is something about you you might not wanna lose

It’s your way to see the beauty in a rainy day too

And don’t forget to take this song with you

and then sing it out loud when you are feeling blue

Tell me everytime you do, you’ll find me everywhere

There is something about you you might not wanna lose

It’s your way to see the beauty in a rainy day too

And don’t forget to take this song with you

and then sing it out loud when you are feeling blue

Tell me everytime you do, you’ll find me everywhere you look

Tell me every time you do, you’ll find me in your mirror too.

Recording . . Recording

It is always a long process when recording a new album but nevertheless rewarding in many ways.

REC STOP DELETE REWIND over and over again.

Among others we also played an unreleased song called “Good and Bad”.

That day one of our friends, Emanuele Taglieri (http://www.emanueletaglieri.it/Sito/emanueletaglieri.html) shoot the show and…here we are one year after.

For more info on the gig click here.

Here are a couple of shoots from our new video.
