Havana

Havana, the second track from the new EP – Square One was written in one long night at the international airport of Caracas waiting for the flight back to Madrid, on the way back from a trip to Cuba in the winter of 2016.

It had been a crazy journey along which I met many people and listened to many stories from worlds I did not even know that exist. In a way the place gave me exactly the feelings that I expected.

A hopeless perception of isolation, a world that is enough to itself, a world that lives out of its glorious past, its myths and believes.

The slow, almost lethargic vibe of the city should not mislead, a rather vibrant energy pervades the streets, the squares and the eyes of the people. It is all very clear when the dark comes and the music fills up the darkness, revealing the real nature of Havana: colours, melodies, dances.

With this song I wanted to capture all this and to send a message not only to you, but to me too:

and everyday i smile cause we just got one life

and we don t get to live it twice, we don t get to live it twice

Sometimes we get carried away in thinking that we need more, while happiness often lies in simple things.

Enjoy!

Sunrise again over the city of Havana

on the run again another day to discover

the cars drive down the street without rushing

honking to a local beauty on the pavement

they say “hola, como estas” they say “hola donde vas”

rum and coke and cigarettes, little sleep and little rest

lazily dragging myself down the road to the west

30 degrees and the breeze caressing my face like a kiss

from the caribbean sea remember me to be free

remembering me to be free

and everyday i smile

cause we just got one life

and we don t get to live it twice

we don t get to live it twice

Revolucion I read on the walls of Havana

that’s how i feel, inside of me, inside my soul

Revolution, is a motion of this planet of my mind

I find myself once again in a little random club

where music is filling the air

with nostalgic sweet harmonies

every instrument plays like there is no begin and no end

to this caribbean dream remembering me to be free

remembering me to be free

and everyday i smile

cause we just got one life

and we don t get to live it twice

we don t get to live it twice
